The Istanbul Centre in Brussels hosted a conference titled ‘European Parliament elections: vision of unity for the EU, cultural diversity and Euro-Turks’ organized by Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) on Wednesday 3 June at 17.30.
After a speech of welcome given by Mehmet Alpaslan Saygın, General Secretary of Union of European Turkish Democrats, Belgian candidates from different political parties competing for the European Parliament elections on 7 June expressed their political parties’ points of view on Turkey’s accession to the EU.
Among the speakers were: Mr. Louis Michel, the European Commissioner; Mrs. Veronique de Keyser, Member of the European Parliament; Mr Said El Khadraoui, Member of the European Parliament; Mrs. Isabelle Durant, Senator and President of the Belgian Ecolo Party and Gwendolyn Rutten, Head of Cabinet in the Open Vld Party.
